Symbiosis was very proud and excited to be partnering with Google for Entrepreneurs to create the London Portal connecting Google Campus to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Silicon Valley June 22-24. Enter a Portal and you can connect with policy makers, entrepreneurs, and innovators in a distant location, as if in the same room. Share big ideas. Get a different perspective. Collaborate with a new friend including President Obama.
Our Response
Portals is a global public art initiative. Shipping containers are painted gold, equipped with audiovisual technology, and placed in public sites around the world. In London it wasn’t possible to use an existing container so Symbiosis recreated the exact look, feel and atmosphere using Bematrix, special steel cladding and custom made doors. Every element was spray painted in-depth to ensure that the London Portal accurately matched the other Portals in Mexico City, Seoul and Silicon Valley.
When individuals enter one Portal, they see a person in another Portal live and full-body, as if in the same room. Many participants have described feeling as though they were “breathing the same air”. Each Portal is placed in a Google for Entrepreneurs tech hub that hosts a strong community of entrepreneurs and thought leaders. Watch out for it appearing again soon.
