At Symbiosis, we deliver show-stopping stands and experiences with minimal environmental impact. We believe in action, not just words—rethinking every step of the process to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink. It’s a journey, but we’re proud of our progress—and on track to achieve ESSA Sustainability Accreditation in 2026.
Better Stands Gold Certification
In 2025, Symbiosis was awarded Gold certification across all our stands at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair through the event’s Better Stands initiative. This recognises that every major element of our stand builds—including structures, furniture, platforms, displays, lighting, ceilings, flooring, and graphics—was either reused or recycled.
Demonstrating that our commitment to sustainability goes beyond promises—we’re delivering tangible results on the show floor while setting a benchmark for the wider events industry.
Zero Waste to Landfill
We’re committed to ensuring that none of our waste goes to landfill. Paper, cardboard, packaging and aluminium are all recycled, while 100% of general waste is converted into biomass—generating electricity for up to 20,000 Hampshire homes.
Closing the Loop on Foamex & Fabric
Sustainability starts with our own materials. Most of our used foamex and fabric is collected and recycled into everyday essentials such as traffic cones. By keeping resources in circulation, we prevent waste and prove how practical steps can make a lasting difference.
Smarter Stand Systems
Our beMatrix stand system is built to last and designed to be reused again and again. Its modular layout adapts easily to different venues, while lightweight aluminium means lower transport emissions and faster builds. At the end of its long life, every frame and component is 100% recyclable—zero waste, maximum impact.
Sustainable Graphics
All our exhibition graphics are designed for multiple use, saving clients money while cutting waste. We’re also continually trialling the latest eco-friendly print media, fabrics and inks, making sure every display is as sustainable as it is striking.
Flooring with a Future
We only work with flooring brands that share our values. 95% of our carpet and vinyl is granulated and reformed into new products, while the remaining 5% is converted into biomass. That means every floor covering has a clear path to reuse or recycling.
Responsible Timber Use
Thanks to our aluminium stand system, timber use is kept to a minimum.
When custom features do require wood, we use only FSC-approved timber, ensuring it’s responsibly sourced, reused wherever possible, and ultimately recycled.
Partnership with Harrow Way Community School
Our commitment extends to the next generation. Together with Harrow Way Community School, we’ve redirected surplus materials—Foamex, wood, MDF, acrylic and LED lighting—into classrooms. The savings enabled the school to invest in new technology, including a 3D printer and digital cutter, enriching student learning.
Next, we’re helping to create a Living Laboratory and Kitchen Garden, approved by Hampshire County Council. Built entirely from upcycled materials, this outdoor classroom will give students hands-on experience in sustainability and seasonality.
Driving Change on the Road
We’re on the way to a fully electric fleet by 2028. Charging points are already installed at our Andover facility, and in the meantime, we’re planning event logistics to minimise emissions at every stage.
